20" x 20 " oil on canvas, unframed $950.00, 2009
I took this photo the day I got my new camera. There is a valley creek west of Blacksburg called Craig's Creek. As a student at Virginia Tech we would often camp there. It is very rural and quiet. This draft horse was sunning in late afternoon. Each time he swept his tail against the flies I tried to capture the glow in the sun knowing I would want to paint this composition later.
I am happy with the composition and may paint it again a bit larger at a later date.
Ultramarine blue, transparent orange, transparent red earth, trasnparent earth orange, golden ochre, purple diaxazine, permanent green, cadnium lemon and white (titanium zinc)
