Gail Guirreri-Maslyk

Equine fine artist Gail Guirreri-Maslyk of Virginia paints brilliantly colored canvases with a unique brush stroke reminiscent of Post Impressionism and Fauve periods. Her works celebrate the color and vibrancy of interpretive realism. Gail's artistic training was at Virginia Tech (VA Tech) in landscape painting. During the same time period, she traveled extensively in the Far East and Europe. Both deeply inspired her intuitive use of color and ability to translate the power of the magnificent equid into radiant compositions.

Gail was a participating artist on international tour with the 2007 Master of Foxhounds Association (MFHA). Her work, Hunt Landscape II, was accepted to their traveling art exhibition commemorating their Centennial celebration. Her work was accepted by the Saddlebred Horse Museum’s 4th & 5th Annual Art, Antique and Rare Book Auctions, Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, KY. She has been the donating artist to the Roanoke Valley Horse Show (RVHS) since 2000, and sells out her limited edition Annual RVHS Prize Poster. Her work has covered many horse show programs, most notably including the Friesian Grand Nationals in 2005 and 2007, the International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association (IALHA) National Championships, 2007. Summer Breeze, was featured on the cover of The Chronicle of the Horse (Vol. LXX, No. 31) as well as Blue Hors Matine (Vol.LXXI, NO.23). Durk, Study in Blue and Orange won a juried competition and was on cover of Horse in Art magazine, Winter 2008. She was featured by Sidelines Magazine in the Fall of 2006. Gail donates to a number of hunt benefits, land conservation, youth horsemanship programs, as well as Free Clinics through RVHS, Middleburg Humane Foundation and Blue ridge Hospice.

Her list of current and on-going activities include: Capriole (30” x 48” oil on canvas) was accepted by jury for inclusion in Ex Arte Equinus, Art Horse Magazine's International Competiton. This show's selected works is available in a hardback or soft bound book. Gail was a featured cover artist Winter 2008 publication of Horses in Art. Gail received a special invitation to show her work at the private Equine Art Reception sponsored by Horse Shows In The Sun (HITS) Ocala, FL, February 2008 and 2009. The American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) has invited Gail to attend their annual Youth Program and paint on-site during the ASHA World Grand Championships in Louisville, KY. She has exhibited her work at other sites such as The Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs, Lexington, KY in May, 2008, and the Upperville Colt and Horse Show, the oldest horse show in America along with many of her regular shows at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, VA.

Gail is well rounded in the horse industry. She has developed a Spotted Holsteiner Sport Horse as a breed type over the last 20+ years. She is an internationally published equine graphic artist and equine industry website designer. Her interests also include the promotion and development of business ethics (Better Horse Business) for the equine industry that will provide merchants and customers an improved overall experience and profit opportunity.
