Gail painting a Hunt Landscape for the 2009 Middleburg Humane Foundation Benefit Auction,
June 20. Canvas is 48" x 60".
Gail Guirreri-Maslyk is an equestrian, sporting, landscape and portrait fine artist working in oil on canvas. Reproductions are available.
Gail moved to hunt country in northern Fauquier County last summer from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Blacksburg, VA. With the economy changing and a wish to be closer to family, Gail found a new life in the equine saturated community of northern Virginia.
"When you say you have 18 horses in Blacksburg, or most anywhere, you get raised eyebrows and many questions about why. Here in hunt country, the questions are about the horses and what do they do. I love that we (equestrians) are a majority of the community".
Gail's paintings are oil on canvas. These range in size though she prefers canvases on the larger side. Her work has been on many covers including The Chronicle of the Horse (Vol. LXX, NO. 31 and Vol.LXXI, NO.23), Horses in Art magazine (Winter 2008), Friesian Grand Nationals (2005 and 2007), IALHA National Championships in 2007, HITS Finals poster as well as featured in magazines such as Sidelines. Gail is invited to show often at major events including MFHA Centennial Tour, Kentucky Derby, Saratoga, HITS, ASHA World Championships among others.
Gail will be available for painting lessons once the breeding season is over. Read the current Newsletter >>
June is one of Gail's busiest months of the year. She has been show artist for Roanoke Valley Horse Show since 1999. Once the show ads are out and the program gone to press in May her attention turns to the annual 'Prize Poster'. This limited edition sell out poster also sells on t-shirts. New this year will be a canvas tote. All proceeds (except a small pool of start up funds for 2010) from Roanoke Valley Horse Show goes to the Bradley Free Clinic, equine research and other charities and scholarships. June Camper is the show executive. The rest of the horse show is run solely by volunteers. Roanoke Valley Horse Show is the show known for southern hospitality!!! Show dates are June 15-20.
